The Balenciaga Like A Man denim jacket is not like any other denim jackets. At least not in my eyes. But that’s perhaps because I’m a tiny bit more interested in Balenciaga than most others? In general, a denim jacket is something I consider to be an affordable piece, something I buy at H&M or Topshop. But last year my all time favorite designer came out with the coolest denim jacket I’ve ever seen, and I spent almost a year obsessing about it.
This oversized denim jacket is made of Japanese stonewashed denim, in a perfect shade of vintage medium blue with distressed details on the trims. It has a bold, but for some reason also a bit subtle, Balenciaga logo on the back. Maybe it’s because the logo is laser-printed on before being stonewashed? Or maybe it’s just me and it really is a BOLD logo?! Usually, I’m not a huge fan of big logos (and that is why I love the Balenciaga moto bags), but sometimes you just love what you love and must make an exception.
And then there is the cut. The cut is perfect. This jacket is extremely oversized but still looks amazing on a woman, even though it’s called “Like A Man”. The name couldn’t describe it better. If you like the boyfriend style it’s definitely for you. But even with an oversized cut, it looks great with a chunky sweater underneath or just a white tee. There’s something about the fabric and the cut that makes this look good on no matter what. It’s versatile but still special and cool. You can wear it in an androgynous way with jeans and sneakers or vamp it up with a skirt and heels. You can have it all with this jacket.
It took me almost a year to buy it, considering it’s an expensive denim jacket. But when you can’t get it out of your head for that long, you wear denim jackets practically all year long except in the coldest winter months and it’s 100% your style, it’s worth it. And let’s not forget that a denim jacket is an essential wardrobe piece. The Balenciaga Like A Man denim jacket serves so many occasions and I will definitely not buy another denim jacket for many years. Think cost per wear and it makes it a bit more OK!
I haven’t had a chance to use it that much yet as winter just let go. The few times I have worn it, I’ve styled it with military green and beige pants. I also tried it with a flowery maxi dress and it works. I plan to wear it with jeans too as I love the denim on denim look.
I’m not the only one who loves it obviously, they sell out really quickly. If you’re thinking of getting one, act fast! Currently, StyleBop has it in black and white and MyTheresa has it in black. They also have similar styles in blue here and here and in black here. And you can always check out balenciaga.com too.
