Current handbag wish list
I don’t know about you, but my handbag wish list is a never-ending story. I always have a “current handbag wish list”. Some of the bags have been on my list forever, and some come and go. For a handbag enthusiast that doesn’t have a money tree (where can I grow one?!) it’s fun to dream and drool while saving up. There are always so many drool-worthy handbags to choose from, so here I’ll sum up my current top 8 dream bags and let you know WHY they are on the list.
1. Chloé Day bag in medium (the large size)
My next handbag purchase should be a practical day bag on the larger side, and the Chloé Day bag is a perfect candidate. I have inspected this bag in real life and was pleasantly surprised at how practical this bag seems to be. It’s roomy with several compartments and pockets and you can carry it in many different ways, either by its top handle or on the shoulder or crossbody with its adjustable long strap. I only have one minor concern and that is the main lock on the front. It consists of a magnetic clasp that you also have to pull down to open the bag, and I found it a bit tricky to do that with only one hand. I had to use both hands and let’s face it, that is not an option you always have.
2. Chanel Gabrielle hobo bag
I could have put this on the top of the list because frankly, it’s a bag I’ve been lusting over ever since it was launched a few seasons ago. I LOVE the design, its practicality and that you can carry it in so many different ways. It has a classic and old fashion vibe with a different and fresh twist. It stands out without being a typical it-bag. What’s not to love? The price. As we all know, Chanel is the master of price increases so it’s a pricey bag. You definitely need to be 100% sure and save up, unless you have a money tree.
3. Chanel Gabrielle backpack
The same applies to this incredibly cute Gabrielle backpack as for the hobo. To be honest, I’m not a big backpack fan, but this one looks like a feminine hybrid between a backpack and a bucket bag. Hello money tree, where are you??
4. Gucci Marmont belt bag
The belt bags have totally grown on me. I was skeptical at first, but who doesn’t want to upgrade an outfit with a cool belt bag and have super easy access to lipgloss, wallet, and phone as well? So practical! The Gucci Marmont versions are really cute and I’d love one in black velvet or red leather. But after I had a look at them in real life, I have a small concern about the size. They come in two sizes – a small version which looks stunning on but you can barely fit anything in it, and a larger version that is more practical but looks a bit bulky on.
5. Balenciaga Souvenir XS belt bag
I love the retro design and those adorable charms attached to the chain! I really want to try to check out this bag in real life, because space is limited in a fanny pack and you need to be able to carry a bit more than your cardholder, phone and keys if you’re paying big bucks for a designer version. That being said, it looks roomier than the Gucci Marmont belt bag, so this may be a better option in that way.
6. Balenciaga graffiti City
I have to admit that even though I am more of a Balenciaga “oldie” fan where you don’t mess with the classics, I do love a few of their newer styles as well. The new graffiti line is awesome! If you love Balenciaga you probably love the rock chic style, and this just takes it to another level. But, if you don’t want to spend the money and have an old Bal that needs a touch-up, why don’t you make it a DIY project if you dare!
7. Fendi Peekaboo
For a long time, I was quite indifferent to all Fendi bags, including the Peekaboo. But like most things, taste changes over the years. I love the design of the Peekaboo and it’s a great everyday bag if you go for a larger version or a cute evening bag if you go for a micro version. I’ve heard this bag is called the “poor woman’s Kelly” which I find both amusing and absurd. Yes, I do see the resemblance, but a brand new Peekaboo is definitely not a cheap bag. Ok, so it’s cheaper than the Hermès Kelly, but still!
Last but not least, the ultimate dream bag: Hermès Kelly 32 cm in black togo leather with palladium hardware. I have tried it on, both in the 28 cm and 32 cm sizes, and although the smaller 28 is adorable the 32 suits my height better and for SUCH a pricey bag it just has to be roomy enough to carry my essentials and then some. It’s a dream bag that will be on the list for a long time, if not forever. Unless I sell half my bag collection or grow that money tree, that is.
