Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers
Hey there, long time no see. So many things have been going on since my last post, so I’m going to start off by saying I’m sorry for missing in action! It wasn’t planned, sometimes life just gets in the way. I may fill you in with more details later on, but first things first: the Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers.
The newest addition to my designer shoe family
The Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers are the newest addition to my designer shoe family. So happy about that! But to be honest, it’s a bit of a surprise that I own not only ONE, but TWO pairs of what is categorized as the “dad sneaker” or “ugly sneaker”. I like to think that I’m a classic girl when it comes to shoes, maybe with a touch of grunge. I’m not a typical sneakers girl unless it’s the classic Converse All Stars.
But things can change and I blame Balenciaga. When my favorite brand released the Triple S sneakers, I fell head over heels in love. Not only are they weirdly cool, they are also very comfy and something you can wear with jeans, skirts, and dresses. After using them for three months I realize that these type of sneakers are indeed very me, so it was time to add a new pair.
Pure luck and meant to be
I’ve been eyeing the Louis Vuttion Archlights for quite some time, but couldn’t decide on which color combination I liked best. I do admit I like the black and brown version, especially since they are very different from my Triple S, but there is too much LV logo going on for my taste.
Also, I thought the Archlights were impossible to find because of all the hype. But last week I decided to go into Louis Vuitton in Oslo, just to check if they had them in stock. And the first thing I see is a white version with silver and dark blue stripes, with a touch of feminine pink on the back and a subtle LV logo. Love at first sight! Plus, it was the last pair in the store, in my size! Pure luck? Indeed. Meant to be? Yes.
And before you ask, no, the arch is not that high on the inside as it appears on the outside. They are like normal sneakers, but cooler looking!
Why the Archlights are extra special to me
There is also another reason why the LV Archlight sneakers are extra special to me. My love for Balenciaga goes back to when Nicolas Ghesquière was the creative director. He is a genius and I worship him. After all, he created the Motorcycle bag. The bag I’ve been loving for more than a decade, the bag that started my handbag addiction for real. Which may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you see it.
Of course, I was devastated when Nicolas Ghesquière left Balenciaga for Louis Vuitton in 2013. Because I’m not a Louis Vuitton girl, you’ll never see me with an LV bag. And before you LV lovers bite my head off, there’s nothing wrong with LV, it’s just a personal preference. Everyone can’t love the same things and thank God for that. Anyway, I’ve been missing him a little ever since.
And now you may think I’m a lunatic, but I even named my youngest son after him. Yes! My son is named Florian Nicholas Ormiston. Florian because we just love it, Nicholas after Nicolas Ghesquière and Ormistion after my hubby’s great-grandfather. To my defense, I added a “H” to make it a bit more personal and a bit less lunatic stalker-ish.
So when Mr. Ghesquière finally designed something for LV that I truly loved, what else to do? I can finally wear one of his new creations again. Woot woot!
Cost per wear
I said it before and I’ll say it again – it’s about cost per wear. Yes, the Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers are pricey and I’m sure there are some eye-rollings over this purchase. But honestly, I’d rather own one pair of sneakers that I truly love and wear a lot, instead of several pairs of “OK” ones that I’ll use now and then. Plus, the special feeling of wearing a design made by someone you admire and respect makes it worth it in my eyes.
